#TeaserTuesday and Happy New Year!

by | Dec 31, 2019

What better way to send off 2019 than with a #TeaserTuesday snippet from Destroyed? In the new year, I’m going to have some very special surprises for you, and that’s before Destroyed is even set to release! I’m so excited to share it all with you and hope you love it as much as I do.

I hope 2019 has been amazing for everyone, and that everything you hope and dream for comes to you in 2020. Make sure to have a safe and happy New Years!

But onto the snippet, because I know that’s what we’re all here for!

The exhaustion that had plagued her for so long now dug its ragged claws into her, making her weak, breathless as she fought for a single inch of reprieve. Mind struggling to sift through what was her and what was not, her panic flared and shrieked, a wailing explosion in a night dark sky.

She didn’t want to feel this.

Tobias gave her no mercy, invading her with single minded determination. Chocolate and chilies simmered under her skin, torrents of heat blasting through her veins. He grunted above her. Hands tightening, he tried to push closer as if he could take her inside of him, making them one.

A sound reminiscent of a groan filtered through the chaos clamoring around her skull. Uncertain which of them had made the noise, she could do little more than cling to him as sensations bombarded her. Too much to take in, not enough to make any sense of. Pain, regret, sorrow, betrayal. It blasted through her thoughts, obliterating everything.

Destroying her one thudding heartbeat at a time.

Something splintered and cracked, shattering from the constant abuse. Soundless as it ripped her apart, slicing her open and laying her bare and vulnerable to the beast lurking inside and out. Thick tears dripped from her lashes, trickling down her temples to stain her hair dark and glossy.

A breath filled her lungs. Long and deep, it was clean and crisp, as if she breathed fresh air for the first time in her life. It shuddered through her, filling her up with a warmth she had never known under her own control. Something only he could incite, the thing he did to her when he broke her to his will.

Yet her thoughts were her own. She felt him there, deep inside, touching a part of her he had no right to, but she wasn’t struggling against the sunlit agony.

The bond was not quiet, but for once it did not hurt.

The preternatural calm was a lie, Devin realized. His body was poised, ready for the killing strike. It was his eyes though that showed his turmoil beyond the fixed stare. Clamping her lips into a hard line, she gave a minute shake of her head. Refusing to bare more of her soul to him.

“Despite sitting at that stupid desk, watching him destroy me a little more each day, you made it better,” she breathed, eyes widening as she willed her treacherous tongue to stop moving. “Just seeing you, even smelling you… There was hope, somewhere in all of it, and…”

“Enough.” His was a voice dragged over hot coals, wrenched from a place neither of them knew existed. A dark abyss that became more twisted, more voracious as Devin shone a glimpse of light upon it.

“You always made me feel safe.”

“And you hated my touch. Always yelling your accusations of stealing things from you, taking everything away,” he snarled against her lips. “You tried to kill both of us, to destroy all of this, and you expect me to believe I made you feel safe?”

“It scared me, Daniel.”

“And now you’re not, is that it?”

“Not of you.”

As if it had never faltered, the shimmering heat returned. It bloomed through her chest, tangling through her limbs as she struggled to work them free to return his crushing grasp. Whining low in her throat when he kept her imprisoned, she did the only thing she could. Arching her neck, she brought their lips flush. Her tongue teased at the tender flesh, begging for entry. Devin whimpered when he tore his mouth away.
